Other programs kicked the tires, but never pulled the trigger — and the Miners wouldn't have it any other way.

They've secured a pledge from one of the best-kept secrets in West Texas, as McCoy has announced his commitment to UTEP and become the highest-rated member of the Miners' offensive class. He discussed his decision in detail with MinerInsider shortly before going public with the news.

“They have great energy," McCoy said of the Miner staff. "You go, and you’re like, ‘Wow.’ At other camps, they were good, but their energy was slow. You didn’t have coaches running out there screaming like it was actually a practice or game situation. Just their coaching and their energy.”
