UTEP's remarkable success with portal targets continues, as the Miners have added a pledge from Georgia Southern transfer OL Chris Carter.
Carter, who stands 6-foot-6 and tips the scales at 290 pounds, took an official visit to the Sun City over the weekend and committed to the staff before departing. He will have two years of eligibility remaining for Scotty Walden and UTEP.
“The main thing that convinced me was ultimately the coaches," Carter told MinerInsider regarding his decision to commit. "I feel like good people win football games — people who know what they’re doing, and people who not only know how to coach football, but know how to grow young men. Because I feel like at the end of the day, when your players really love you, they’ll run through a brick wall for you. Those [teams] always end up being the best teams. They’re a real energetic staff; I was real surprised to learn how young they were. Even in our position meeting, the whole staff was in there. It was Coach [Ryan] Stanchek, Coach Walden, Coach [Jake] Brown — everybody. I was excited before I went, and I’m even more excited now.”
