A first glimpse at HD Davis' statistics from his junior season at Wolfe City (Texas) HS might lead you to believe you're looking at a typo.
But Davis did indeed rush for an unfathomable 2,789 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2024.
And at 6 feet and 205 pounds, he's not just a high school hero who could never dream of cracking it at the next level. He owns the size, speed and physicality to excel in FBS competition one day, and the UTEP staff jumped on the opportunity to offer Davis over the winter when they got eyes on his tape. Since then, Davis has also picked up offers from Wofford, Navy and Kansas State.
However, at this point in his recruitment, Davis is highest on the Miners — and that's especially the case following his unofficial campus visit on Apr. 5. He'll see Kansas State on Apr. 22 and plans to get up to Navy this summer, but UTEP paces the field for the time being.
“I really liked it; I liked the campus and the whole city and all the coaches and staff," Davis told MinerInsider.com. "It was good. I mean, their offense reminded me a lot of ours, so I think they would help a lot and help me fit right in.”
