UTEP lands a commitment from former TCU and Florida State RB Corey Wren

Scotty Walden and the UTEP staff continue to emphasize speed in the Miners' new-look offensive scheme, and the program has added plenty more of it with a commitment from former TCU and Florida State dynamo Corey Wren.

A former three-star recruit in the 2020 cycle, Wren originally signed with the Seminoles and spent two years in Tallahassee before transferring to TCU. He was a member of the Horned Frogs' CFP runner-up team in 2022, and entered the portal once more after two seasons in Fort Worth. Now, he'll finish out his collegiate career in El Paso, where he'll have a major opportunity to utilize his speed at the Miner Back position for Walden.

Over his four seasons of football at FSU and TCU, Wren has totaled 15 carries for 51 yards and four receptions for seven yards. He has yet to record a touchdown at the collegiate level.

A native of New Orleans, Wren committed to UTEP while on campus for the Miners' Apr. 20 spring game. He had been one of three official visitors (joining Rice transfer CB Tre'Shon Devones and Austin Peay transfer LB Sam Howard) on campus for the first spring game of the Walden era in the Sun City.
